Capital One Introducing Capital One Dining Platform for Cardholders

Consumers carrying such cards as the Venture, Quicksilver, or others will soon see another perk added to their benefits. This week, the company announced the impending launch of Capital One Dining. Not only will the new booking platform allow cardholders to make reservations at top eateries but will also feature exclusive culinary experiences and events. Additionally, some participants will set aside reservations specifically for Capital One customers. The platform will roll out next month and will be available to all Capital One branded rewards cardholders.

To create the offering, Capital One worked with Chef José Andrés, the MICHELIN Guide, and the James Beard Foundation to curate a roster of more than 350 restaurants to participate in the program. Currently, these restaurants are located in 11 cities across the United States. These cities include New York City, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, and more.

Announcing the new platform, Capital One’s Head of Branded Card Partnerships and Experiences Monica Weaver said, “At Capital One, we know our customers are passionate about dining out with family and friends, whether it’s a twelve-course dinner at an award-winning restaurant or brunch at a hidden gem. That’s why we’re excited to announce Capital One Dining, which offers our rewards cardholders access to a curated collection of restaurants that has been built with the help of some of the most trusted names in dining, including the legendary Chef José Andrés, the Michelin Guide, and the James Beard Foundation.” Weaver also teased future possibilities, adding, “We continue to listen to our customers, and we’re excited to continue bringing them access to unforgettable culinary experiences. This is just the beginning!”

The launch of Capital One Dining comes as the bank has seemingly been taking a page from the playbook of American Express (which acquired the dining reservation platform Resy in 2019). Recently, the company opened its first Capital One Lounge location at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport — a location that’s also home to one of Amex’s Centurion Lounges. That grand opening also coincided with the debut of the Venture X card, the first premium travel card from Capital One. Meanwhile, Capital One’s rewards card line-up also includes dining-centric offerings, including the Savor card and the no-annual-fee SavorOne card.

Although in the past, Capital One hasn’t been seen as a luxury card issuer, the past year has shown that the bank can indeed compete in the large arena of “lifestyle” that others such as Chase and Amex have long pursued. With the arrival of the Venture X card, Capital One Lounges, and now Capital One Dining, the company is putting its own spin on the types of exclusive perks that have proven popular among cardholders — while also making them more accessible than their competitors in many cases. It’s an interesting strategy and one that has a lot more opportunities to explore. In the meantime, hopefully Capital One customers can find value and unique experiences with this new addition.
