Fioney Editorial Guidelines

What is Fioney? Our mission

Fioney is focused on providing personal and small business finance information for a changing world. Founded in 2015 (rebranded in 2023), Fioney seeks to bring the most relevant personal finance, FinTech, and small business news to readers alongside in-depth reviews, guides, and insights. Our goal is to provide practical personal finance advice from small wins to major life changes and everything in between. In addition to covering money news and basics, our authors also deliver specific and personal stories from their lives that readers can apply to their own financial situations.

Editorial process

All of our content is written by the author and reviewed by our editor. With the exception of Staff posts, the author and editor of a given post can be found in the byline section. Articles that do not initially meet our editorial standards will not be published while those that no longer meet our standards may be removed.

Sourcing

Our news content comes from a variety of sources, including press releases, company blog posts, government data, third-party studies, and other news sites. With the exception of press releases, Fioney will provide a link to the original source.

Commentary

Editorial commentary only reflects the opinions of the author(s) and not necessarily those of Fioney nor the subjects of the article. Commentary content is identified with the “My thoughts” section in news posts while reviews and blog posts may contain opinions throughout.

Review standards

Our Fioney authors strive to make our reviews as detailed and well-informed as possible. This includes personally using and experiencing the apps and products being covered. In the instances where this isn’t possible, the term “overview” may be substituted for “review” and/or the features not tested will be noted.

Fioney will only review products and services deemed to be relatively safe. If our reviewers do have concerns about the product/service’s safety, the review will either not be posted or will strongly note the associated risks. However, we acknowledge that some of the services featured may present concerns beyond our awareness or control.

For more information on our review policy, please visit our rating methodology page.

Disclosures and transparency

Fioney does maintain affiliate relationships with certain brands that are clearly disclosed in the relevant content. At this time, Fioney does not publish sponsored content, however, any such posts of this nature in the future will be prominently labeled as such.

Corrections and updates

Small corrections such as an incorrect date or number will be updated without disclosure while larger, more impactful errors will be corrected and noted at the bottom of the article.

Additionally, while content may be accurate at the time of its original publication, information may become outdated. Fioney rarely makes updates to news posts in these instances. However, our reviews are regularly updated, with the most recent revision date noted either in the publication date or in the body text.
