Williams-Sonoma and Capital One Introduce Key Rewards Credit Cards

Williams-Sonoma Inc., which includes such popular brands as Pottery Barn, West Elm, and of course Williams Sonoma, has announced a new slate of rewards cards for customers. This line-up includes the Key Rewards Visa, Williams Sonoma Key Rewards Visa, Pottery Barn Key Rewards Visa, and West Elm Key Rewards Visa — as well as private-label versions of all four options. The new cards are the result of the company’s partnership with Capital One that was first revealed in June.

Those with current Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, or West Elm credit cards have automatically been moved over to the new product. Also of note, applicants for these cards will first be considered for the Visa version of their chosen product. If they are not approved, then they will be considered for the private label version.

While the cards in the line-up have different names, each set has the same rewards. All of the Key Reward cards allow customers to earn 5% in rewards for Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, West Elm, or Mark & Graham purchases they make in-store or online. On top of that, cardholders with the Visa version of the cards will also earn 4% back at grocery stores and restaurants (excluding fast food but including delivery services) and 1% back on all other purchases. These rewards can be redeemed at any Williams-Sonoma Inc. brand.

In terms of other perks, cardholders will enjoy free standard shipping at Williams Sonoma, $25 birthday reward, early access to promotions, and more. Plus, for a limited time, new cardholders can earn 10% rewards on any Williams-Sonoma Inc. brand purchases made within their first 30 days. Notably, these cards carry no annual fee.

Looking at the slate of Williams-Sonoma Inc. Key Rewards Visa cards, the 4% back on grocery store and restaurant categories are clear standouts. After all, these are comparable (but not identical) to what the American Express Gold Card offers — and that card charges a $250 annual fee. However, a major difference is that the rewards earned from these new cards can only be redeemed for purchases at Williams-Sonoma Inc. brands. Additionally, the fast food exception is an interesting omission to the restaurants spending category. Ultimately, those who regularly shop at Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, West Elm, etc. may find these cards appealing given the 5% and 4% categories and the rewards earned could come in handy for those looking to add new furniture, decor, or equipment to their home. However, others are unlikely to find much use for any of the eight new cards.
